While Winston-Salem is no party town, it is not without its night life—even during the week—if you know where to look. Night life, however, is not without its cost. If you have celebrated that special 21st birthday in the recent past, you have no doubt come to the realization that the privilege of drinking legally can also take its toll on your wallet. So if you are looking to make the most of your money or to extend your weekend festivities beyond Friday and Saturday, I present you the Senior Rotation: a full schedule of bars and restaurants offering drink specials for each weekday night.

Sunday
At 6th and Vine, all bottles on the wine list are half priced. The wine list is extensive, as you might imagine, so bring a few friends and try something new or enjoy the discount on an old favorite.

Monday
Think Monday is too early in the week to go out? Think again. Enjoy your favorite 12 oz margarita for $1 off at La Carreta’s Margarita Mondays. If margaritas aren’t your style, Black Bear Tavern offers $5 pitchers of Yuengling and Bud Light and $7 pitchers of Shiner Bock and a number of shot specials, including $2 Soco and lime shots. If you miss these specials on Monday, they are also offered on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Additionally, if you would like to try new wines for free, River Birch Lodge offers complimentary wine tasting on Mondays from 6-7 p.m.

Tuesday
Fox and Hound has a pint night on Tuesdays where any pint from their large selection of beers is only $2. If cocktails are your preferred beverage, 4th Street Filling Station offers $3 martinis and cosmopolitans.

Wednesday
If you’re looking to celebrate the halfway point of the week, visit Village Tavern (the location on Hanes Mall) for Wine Down Wednesday and enjoy half priced glasses of wine. If a glass will not quite suffice, 4th Street Filling Station offers half priced selected bottles of wine. River Birch Lodge also offers $2 Yuenglings and half priced martinis as part of their Wake Wednesdays special.

Thursday
This night is teeming with possibilities. Foothills Brewery offers their trivia night with $3 glasses of Pilot Mountain Pale Ale. The Village Tavern in Reynolda Village hosts a Martini Night where selected martinis are $5. The list of possibilities is rather extensive, including: Mojito Martini, Hemingway Martini, Bleu Cheese Martini, Manhattan Martini, Metropolitan Martini, and the infamous Chocolate Martini. If you would like to enjoy a sports game while you drink, take note of Thirsty Thursdays at the Winston Salem Warthogs baseball games. Draft beers are only $1 during the home games on April 10, April 17 and May 1. Another variation of Thirsty Thursdays can be found at Tequila’s where 34 oz mugs of Dos Equis and Bud Light are only $2.25.

Although this list is certainly not comprehensive, it represents the numerous possibilities available for a weeknight diversion. Seniors, if you haven’t experienced these specials, definitely try a few out before the year ends.
